                                                             Ohio Trophy

 Location: Ohio, U.S.A. -  Hunter : Justin Stewart - Date : December, 2007

Well I took him in Ohio near where it borders West Virginia. I had been hunting from a buddy stand over a pipe feeder in the first weeks of December. I had a lot of deer coming into it, but they all seemed very timid. A guy that was hunting on the property killed an 8 point from the same stand. One evening I had a nice buck come in from behind me and looked right at me in the stand, thats when I knew there was something wrong. He didn't spook he just turned and walked the other way. I believe that the guy got busted before out of the stand, and he said he missed a 130 class 8pt out of it the morning he shot his buck. My dad and I had been getting this buck on a trail cam at the feeder for a couple days in a row so we knew he'd be coming. We noticed by the pictures that he showed up about 2 hours after we poured corn in the pipe. So around 2:30 I poured the corn in, but this time I took my climber and sat on the other side of the pipe in hopes of catching him looking at the other stand and not me. About 5:00
I had a few does walk right to the feeder, and not see me so I hoped I'd be hidden well. Ten minutes later a small 8pt walked in behind the buddy stand and stopped and stared right at it. Then he proceeded to walk to the feeder I stood in hopes of the big one would be following him. Then another buck! It looked much bigger than the first and I was sure this was him. He also stopped and looked at the buddy stand before going on to the feeder. I got ready as he neared an opening, but then I heard leaves coming from the same place the other 2 came from, so I looked and saw what I thought was a monster mule deer. THIS was him. He looked huge compared to the other bucks. Being from WV I had never seen something that big, but I didn't get excited. He began walking towards the feeder but stopped and looked right at the buddy stand, then continued. He got in an opening and I drew and he stopped and I let that arrow fly. I hit him a little forward I thought. I called my dad and he told me to just wait in the tree until dark, which was about an hour, then he would be coming right there as soon as he got off work. So I got down at dark and went to my truck, only to wait for 2 more hours. We started out where I shot him and found little blood, but then we found more and more, it made it a lot easier since the snow hadn't melted. He ran about 70 yards from where I shot him. The Rage 2 blade tore him up like nothing I've ever seen. I'm used to shooting Muzzys and they do wonders, but this hole was NUTS! We unofficially scored him at like 120-130 but he's at the taxidermist right now and after he's mounted well know what he really scores.
