1. Check string condition- end loops worn, loose, string frade, serving cracked, worn.
2. When loading an arrow, make sure it is all the way in to the string, otherwise this is simulating a dry fire and damage to the bow may occur. Also the string may come off in this instance
3. Stringing aid use. When installing a new dacron string which is slightly shorter and smaller loop ends than the original string the bow came with, you must adjust the stringing aid shorter to pull the limbs in more. The string will now install easily.
4. After a dry fire, put a new string on .
5. Check the condition of your bow for any cracks or splinters in the limbs.
6. Dry fires happen usually when practising. We are not focused enough and/or are distracted by something. We have to formulate a routine and stick to it.
7. Dry fires can also cause damage to the dissapator pads.
8. GOOD NEWS: The new dacron " Excel" strings are dry fire friendly. What it does is it stretches like a bungee cord on having the limbs slam forward on a dryfire, as opposed to a FFF string that is more like a steel cable. We give up a few FPS with this string but the animal is not going to notice the difference.
